When asked which of the 8 weight Burkheimer rods we like best, more often than not the 8139 gets our vote, at least for fishing medium to larger sized rivers. The Burkheimer Classic 13 foot 9 inch 8 weight spey rod offers the length for long casts and precise line control, and the backbone for slinging heavy sink tips and flies and tackling heavy fish. It feels much like a larger version of the wildly popular 7134. On the 8139 we like to cast Skagit lines in the 560 – 575 grain range.
