Beulah’s new Gen 2 Platinum spey rods pick up where the original highly successful Platinum rods left off – building on a foundation of superior rod tapers with all new state of the art materials and process.
The G2 Platinum’s are constructed with graphene, an incredibly light and durable material that until now has been prohibitively expensive to use in fly rod manufacturing.
The 13 foot 2 inch 7 weight is an ideal year ’round steelhead spey rod. Not too light for winter, nor too heavy for summer. This is the most popular rod in the new lineup, and for good reason. It can do it all, and without compromise. For this model we recommend Skagit heads in the 500 – 525 grain range, and Scandi heads about 450 grains.
The 12 foot 8 inch 6 weight is a sweetheart of a floating Scandi line summer steelhead rod, although it can certainly handle Skagit heads and tips. Think Lower Deschutes, dry line, and a sparsely tied size 6 muddler. For this model we recommend Skagit heads around 450 grains and Scandi heads around 400 or slightly under.
